A Complete Wedding Checklist
Planning a wedding is super exciting but can get a little hectic sometimes. So to help you there, we have compiled a detailed wedding checklist for you to get going & plan your big day without any worries.
10-12 Months Before the Wedding
▢ Figure the contributions and Draw a budget for your wedding.
▢ Select your wedding date. Availability of venues & your special guests.
▢ Decide your wedding style and colors.
▢ Book your wedding venue, ceremony location & rehearsal time well in advance.
▢ Choose your wedding rings.
▢ Start preparing your guest list.
▢ If you wish, you can also choose to hire a wedding planner.
▢ Book officiant.
6-9 Months Before the Wedding
▢ Select & order your wedding gowns.
▢ Decide your wedding team- Maid of Honor / Best Man, Bridesmaids / Groomsmen, Flower Girl and Ring Bearer.
▢ Finalize your guest list.
▢ Send out Save-the-Date Invitations.
▢ Reserve guest accommodations.
▢ Register for gifts.
▢ Finalize your menu.
▢ Book your photographer, videographer and wedding band or DJ.
▢ Get in touch with rental companies to finalize the designs & quantities.
4-5 Months Before the Wedding
▢ Make bookings for your honeymoon
▢ Reserve your caterer
▢ Schedule cake tastings and choose your wedding cake.
▢ Book your florist.
▢ Order bridesmaids / Groomsmen dresses.
▢ Select the reader for your ceremony.
2-3 Months Before the Wedding
▢ Write your vows.
▢ Apply for marriage license
▢ Send out wedding invitations.
▢ Book make-up artist & hair stylist. Do the trials.
▢ Finalize & order accessories including veils & shoes.
▢ Hire your Limousine or any other transport required for the wedding day.
▢ Purchase gifts for parents and attendants.
▢ Buy toasting flutes, serving pieces, guestbook, flower basket and ring bearer pillow.
3-4 Weeks Before the Wedding
▢ Have trial & get done the final fittings your wedding gown / Tux.
▢ Get in touch with all your bridesmaids / Groomsmen & make sure their dresses are ready for the wedding day
▢ If planning for welcome baskets, order them.
▢ Review the RSVPs. Follow up with the guests who haven’t replied yet. Call for final confirmations.
1-2 Weeks Before the Wedding
▢ Deliver the list of must-have shots / videos to the photographer & videographer.
▢ Give the final guest count to your caterer.
▢ Finalize the reception seating chart.
▢ Both bride & groom should get their haircuts.
▢ Print table cards & get the other stationary ready.
▢ Deliver your marriage license to the officiant.
2-3 Days Before the Wedding
▢ If needed get your wedding gown & tux ironed & steamed.
▢ Run final checks with the vendors regarding the wedding arrangements.
▢ Deliver table cards, place cards, cameras and other stuffs, needed for setting the table, to the site manager.
▢ If you have booked transport for some guests, provide their names & arrival timings to the transport agency
▢ Write cheques or prepare payment envelops required for the wedding day.
The Day Before the Wedding
▢ Rehearse ceremony with your family, close friends and your officiant.
▢ Make sure you have a handy list & contact details of all your vendors. Give a copy to your best man / maid of honor for any follow ups.
▢ Get the welcome baskets delivered to the hotel.
The Wedding Day
▢ Assign a family or friend as a point of contact for photographer or videographer to understand who’s who.
▢ Give wedding rings and officiant fee to best man.
▢ Give wedding bands to best man & maid of honor.
▢ Handover presents to parents and attendants.
Post Wedding Day
▢ Make a list of the gifts you have received and by whom.
▢ Write & send thank you notes to these guests.
▢ Return the rentals with the help of person you chose in advance.
▢ Get your wedding dress cleaned
▢ Meet photographers & videographers to finalize the photos for album & videos
